Class Descriptions
Beginner’s Ashtanga: In this class for new students, you will learn the fundamentals of the Ashtanga Primary Series and the internal aspects of the practice: breath, movement, gaze and the joining together of this trinity. We take our time to address individual questions and concerns — a nurturing Ashtanga beginning!
Mysore: Originating in India, these classes are the traditional method of teaching and learning Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga. Our yoga instructor does not lead the class; rather, he or she works with you one-on-one, teaching the correct breath to movement, posture specific focal points, establishing correct alignment, offering adjustments, variations and new postures as you progress through the Ashtanga series. Observe A Class: Still unsure about yoga? Then come observe a class! Students are always welcome to visit any class on the schedule before diving in. This was how Melanie was first introduced to Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga in India, and she was hooked before she even hit the mat.
Led Class: Our Led class is ideally meant to support your main Mysore Style practice but in itself is also a complete Ashtanga Vinyasa experience. You are guided as a group through either the Half Primary or Full Primary series and the pace is kept to the count of our teacher. You will be reminded of the correct vinyasa, the correlation of a specific breath to a specific movement, the correct focal points, to engage your energy locks and most important to BREATHE!
